Road Network in Serbia


The road network of the Republic of Serbia is 40,845 km long, out of which:

-5,525 km are arterial roads,      -11,540 km are regional roads,    -23,780 km are local roads.

This network has:

-415,7 km of highways under toll collection and                          -246,5 km of semi-highways under toll collection

Road tax, goods transport

Vehicles registered in countries which have signed bilateral agreements with Serbia and Montenegro and covered by an authorization, are liable to the following tax:

  • for trucks, trailers, semi-trailers regardless of their total weight 

    US$ 0,003 per gross tone*/km

    *gross tone: vehicles tare plus load carried, but at least the value corresponding to the maximum authorized load plus vehicle's own weight (=0 for empty return)

The same tax is payable for vehicles in transit through Serbia. Vehicles which are not covered by an authorization (transport operations in excess of the quota fixed by bilateral agreement) must pay the above-mentioned tax with a 50% surcharge. Vehicles from countries which have not concluded a bilateral agreement pay the tax plus a surcharge of 20%.
